Looking for camps or summer care for your children this summer? Check out the camps, both half-day (9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.) and full day (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.) that we will be offering here at TBS this year! TBS will also offer summer care from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday-Friday.
 
2020 Camp Offerings:
June 1-4 – Basketball Camp (Grades 2-9) – $190
• This camp will focus on basic basketball skills and will see students participate in daily games, including 5-on-5 and dribble relays. Instructor: Ryan Bernardi
 
June 8-12 – Half-Day Cheer Camp (Grades 1-12) – $95
• During the week, students will learn all about cheerleading. Students will have lessons in tumbling, crowd response, dance, nutrition, stunting and physical fitness. This camp is open to all skill levels. Instructor: Madison Turner
 
June 15-19 & June 22-26 – Musical Theater Enrichment Week (Grades 3-8) – $380 (You are signing up for both weeks.)
• Students will develop their acting, singing and dance skills with this camp. Take advantage of this opportunity to build your student's confidence and bring excitement to their summer. This two-week program will prepare students for a performance on the final day that you won't want to miss! Instructors: Bethany Baker and John Pollock
 
June 15-19 – Half-Day Lego Robotics: Space Challenge Camp (Grades 5-12) – $95
• Students will work as scientists and engineers during this camp. Students will work through space challenges that prompt lessons of creative problem-solving, teamwork, communication and building. Some of these lessons were co-developed by NASA and are designed to show students the planning process for space exploration. Instructor: Madison Turner
 
June 15-19 – Camp Create (Grades 1-8) – $210
• At Camp Create, students will let their imaginations run wild! They will learn to draw their favorite things and create a masterpiece on canvas using acrylic paint techniques. The week will also feature clay sculpting, t-shirt design, mini-movie production, green-screen photos and more! Instructor: Suzanne Hunt
 
June 22-26 – Half-Day Junior Coding Camp (Grades 2-4) – $95
• Students in this camp will explore the word of code, both on the computer and off. They will learn the basics of coding and apply those skills to a real-world scenario, like creating a game, website or app. All skill levels are welcome. Instructor: Madison Turner
 
June 22-25 – Basketball Camp (Grades 2-9) – $190

July 13-17 – Pushing the Limits (Grades 5-8) – $210
• This week will be a true test of endurance, both physically and mentally. Come ready for a week of healthy competition! Students will condition their bodies, learn challenging new games and participate in various STEM competitions. Instructor: Sarah Holt
 
July 13-17 – Camp Create 2 (Grades 1-8) – $210
• At Camp Create, students will let their imaginations run wild! They will learn to draw their favorite things and create a masterpiece on canvas using acrylic paint techniques. July 20-24 – Story Time Stem Camp (Grades 1-4) – $210
• What better way to get students excited about STEM than through their favorite story books? During this week, students will incorporate science, technology, engineering concepts and math into popular children's literature. Instructor: Sarah Holt
 
July 27-30 – Basketball Camp (Grades 5-9) – $190
• This camp will focus more on teaching and skill development and will include specific skill training, structured game play, film and strength and conditioning. Instructor: Ryan Bernardi

FAQ
What are the age ranges for camps/summer care?
To participate in camps, students must be entering the specified grade for the 2020-21 school year.
 
TBS summer care is open to campers that are three before the starting date of camp. All students must be fully potty trained and have an extra change of clothes in case an incident occurs. Students should be able to use the restroom with a minimal amount of assistance.
 
What is the camp/summer care schedule? 
TBS summer camps will provide both half and full-day options for students!
 
The half-day schedule will offer a camp from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The full-day schedule will offer a camp from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. 
 
Summer care ($150 per week) will be offered from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
A $1.00 late fee each minute after the allowed time.
Care location: Lower School drama room
 
What clothes or equipment should students bring?
All students should come dressed appropriately for the camp they are attending. 
 
Instructors will inform students on appropriate clothing for the week. Athletic camps will be required to have closed-toe shoes. Students that are in preschool and kindergarten are asked to bring a change of clothes and shoes.
 
What should students leave at home?

• Electronic devices (unless instructed otherwise)

Do students need to pack their own lunches?
Yes, all students MUST pack a lunch, snack and a water bottle. If students plan to attend summer care, they will need to have enough snacks for both a morning and afternoon snack.
 
What if my child requires medication?
If your child requires medication, or has allergy concerns, please provide these details in advance on TBS Summer Health Form so we can inform the instructors involved in your child's camp.
 
Camp staff cannot dispense medication to any student unless parents bring their child's medication forms and we have written approval from the parents or guardian.
 
How do I sign my child in and out of camp/summer care?
Students must be signed in and signed out by a parent or legal guardian that is listed on the child’s registration form. If there is an individual not listed on the registration form, then the parent or legal guardian will need to provide a written note or send an email to the instructor.

When do I need to pay for camp/summer care?
Full fees are due on the Monday one week prior to the start of camp. Payments can be dropped at the main Lower/Middle School Office, paid online or be mailed to 1615 Greenwood Terrace / Burlington, N.C. 27215.
