• The Director of Instructional Technology reports to the Head of School and is responsible for overseeing technology to be sure it is supporting the mission of the school, the strategic plan, the staff at the school, and the parents and students of the school in regards to instructional technology, data security and privacy, and risk management. This role will support and influence digital strategies for operating an independent private school in the 21st Century. 


    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Educational Technology, Computer Science, or a related field

    • Experience in technology leadership, preferably in a school or educational setting

    • Strong understanding of network systems, cybersecurity, data privacy, and device management (e.g., 1:1 programs)

    Responsibilities

    • Work with Division Deans to be sure that technology is being effectively supported within the faculty of each division. 

    • Develop and review technology-related policies and procedures for students and employees to adhere to applicable laws.

    • Develop and manage the budget and financial projections for technology-related maintenance and purchases.

    • Collaborate with Division Deans to develop hardware lifecycle schedules and implement to ensure reliability and a modern technological environment.

    • Annually review school technology for risks and mitigation options and communicate those to the Leadership Team.

    • Responsible for creating door codes for all faculty and staff, MS and US students, deactivating old staff and students, and working with the Drama teacher and Athletic Director to meet the needs of changing access times as needed.

    • Responsible for creating printer codes, managing printer servers, troubleshooting printer and copier issues, managing copy quotas as dictated by Deans, and keeping Deans up to date on current copier usage.

    • Responsible for Google Suite including creating email addresses for new students, updating all email lists, clearing “quarantine” daily, and deactivating old faculty and student email addresses.

    • Responsible for setting up new teachers on Promethean panels, troubleshooting issues that arise with panels, deleting old users, keeping software up to date and managing firmware updates. 

    • Maintain, resolve problems, provide assistance with staff and faculty laptops. These should be collected each summer for physical and hardware maintenance and updates. 

    • Coordinate with the Admin Assistants for check out and return of student loaner computers, chargers, and calculators

    • Teacher/faculty support with instructional technology: DVD players, document cameras, mice, cables/cords, projectors, etc.

    • Communicating to staff how to properly care for technology equipment during extended absences from school (i.e. unplug panel over Winter Break).

    • Maintain, resolve problems, provide assistance with and ensure communications infrastructure is adequate for the school's needs, including but not limited to networking cables, ISP/Voice Service, Telephone system, Paging and Intercom, Audio/visual systems, internet speed, etc.

    • Maintain, resolve problems, provide assistance with and ensure software inventory is adequate for the school’s needs, including but not limited to online communications platforms, virus and malware protection, subscription based services.

    • Maintain inventory of all assets, equipment and software with serial numbers, updating regularly for additions, removals and changes for accurate insurance purposes.

    • Collaborate and coordinate with Division Deans on student device needs (Chromebooks/Tablets/loaners) in regards to device distribution, tracking and return

    • Create and maintain digital accounts for all staff and students including but not limited to: Email, Barracuda (Web Filter), Follet Destiny (LMS), etc.

    • Implement and maintain appropriate internet content filters for deployment that provides for the needs of staff and students in terms of appropriate filtering and reporting.

    • Develop, implement and regularly review efforts in the area of data security ensuring all aspects of data protection are achieved.

    • Review contracts, terms and conditions, and agreements for all new software platforms for security, privacy and data ownership; request revisions as necessary, forward contracts to the Business Manager for appropriate signature authorities upon approval and final contract.

    • Maintain awareness and comply with laws pertaining to data privacy, records retention and human resources (such as HIPPA, CIPPA, FERPA, E-Rate) to ensure compliance and work with legal counsel and Leadership Team as needed to ensure policies are up-to-date as related to these areas.

    • Ensure policy is in place for security access to information systems; oversee security of the Learning Management System (LMS) and School Library Management System (SLMS) 

    • Ensure that security levels in place for all systems are applicable to the staff role with sharing permissions and access areas.

    • Assist with providing technology setup for special events including on and off campus

  • Qualifications:

    • Prior experience as a teacher or substitute teacher preferred

    • Completion of Effective Teacher Training (at a community college) preferred

    • Familiarity with Google tools (Drive, Docs, Slides) preferred 

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Follow regular teacher’s lesson plans in a way that ensures consistency with regular routines and instruction

    • Manage student behavior to optimize the learning environment

    • Maintain a positive learning environment

    • Carry out additional duties, such as lunch supervision or dismissal supervision, as detailed in lessons plans

    Job Description

    As The Burlington School’s Middle School continues to grow, we are seeking a new position for the 2026-2027 school year.  This teacher will be responsible for planning and implementing lessons for two classes of English (same grade level, grade TBD), two classes of Spanish (same grade level, grade TBD), and one elective, utilizing best practices in middle grades education. In addition, the teacher will be an advisor to a small group of 5th-8th grade students helping to develop social-emotional growth, as part of our mission is to develop the whole child. Our teachers use a variety of instructional methods including both direct instruction and projects to help students think critically and synthesize new information. We strive to create a love of learning and curiosity about the community and world, as we ultimately help prepare students for the next level. As part of this teaching position we are looking for someone who has the interest and ability to do the following: 

    • Develop lesson plans and provide whole group and small group instruction in order to adapt the school instructional standards to the needs of each student.

    • Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects and communicate these objectives to the students.

    • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning.

    • Maintain a positive and productive learning environment by setting clear expectations for behavior, promoting respect and cooperation, and addressing behavioral issues as needed.

    • Develop and implement differentiated instruction strategies to meet the diverse needs of all students.

    • Evaluate students’ academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports and report cards.

    • Communicate with families regularly and meet with students and families during student-led conferences to discuss students’ progress.

    • Attend required events outside of normal school hours.

    • Cooperate with other professional staff members to support students' academic and personal development. 

    • Maintain professional competence through professional development and through self-selected professional growth activities.

    • Attend monthly faculty and division meetings.

    • Travel with a group to a fall class trip (3 days, 2 nights) in September. 

    • Plan a week of experiential learning for a small group in May

    • Help facilitate community within the middle school by assisting with special events. 

    • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Care for children after school in grades preschool 3s to 8.

    Hours are 2:30p - 5:30p, Monday through Friday, with flexibility for college schedules. Opportunities for more hours available on Teacher Workdays. 

    Responsibilities Include:
