As an independent school, The Burlington School relies on support to provide the financial resources required to run our school; tuition alone does not cover operating costs. The funds to cover this “gap” between operating costs and tuition revenues are primarily generated from our endowment and our major fundraising projects like: our Spring Gala and Auction, our Holiday Event and the Caring For Our School Campaign.
The gift of volunteer hours is always needed and much appreciated. Parents, alumni and friends of the school are invited to volunteer at the classroom level or in the school's Parents’ Association.

Matching Gifts
Many employers will match charitable gifts made by their employees. These matching gifts may double the size of your gift to the school. Please inquire with your employer’s Human Resources department to see if the company matches giving. If so, you will need to initiate the process there and we will confirm the gift receipt to finalize the process.

IRA Charitable Rollover
The IRA Charitable Rollover provision allows individuals who have reached age 70½ to donate up to $100,000 to charitable organizations directly from their Individual Retirement Account (IRA), without treating the distribution as taxable income.

Endowment
Our endowment fund can be compared to a long-term investment or savings plan. It is a “permanent” fund in which the principal is invested and the earnings are spent. A strong endowment allows us to always be prepared for what's ahead. If you would like to invest in the future of our school by way of the endowment, please contact the Development Office at philanthropy@theburlingtonschool.org or by making an online gift at Alamance Community Foundation's donation portal.
