Mrs. Payne is a member of the National Association for Music Education and Delta Kappa Gamma educational sorority. A lifelong resident of Burlington, Mrs. Payne holds her B.S. degree from Elon University. She sings professionally at First Presbyterian in Burlington and in other venues. Mrs. Payne has also performed in Gallery Players musicals with leading roles.

.She is the mother of son Alan Ross and daughters Molly and Mary Kathryn (BDS alumni).
Along with husband Mark, Mrs. Payne has completed the restoration of the Holt-Heritage House in historic Glencoe. Her hobbies include gardening and reading.

The primary grades build on each other and we get down to more in depth learning. Style, tempo, dynamics, tone color, harmony along with melody and rhythm are all a part of these classes.
Famous works of music and composers are added to give students a wider view of music and how it relates to history.

Singing, movement,and games are a big part of music class. In the midst of all that, we learn rhythmic patterns, hearing melody along with singing, and how to make music together. 

Hand chime class is comprised of learning notation, rhythm and a team effort.
The class this year has veterans and new players. It always makes me smile to see the seasoned players helping the new ones. It a joyful class!
