First grade teacher Stephanie McCabe has been selected as The Burlington School's 2018-19 Teacher of the Year in an announcement made on Tuesday, Nov. 27.
McCabe is in her second year as a staff member at TBS, but is in her sixth year teaching overall.
Said McCabe, "I fell in love with learning at four years old when I entered Cindy Jordan's classroom at Burlington Day School. I knew from a very early age that I wanted to be a teacher and being back at The Burlington School has been a dream come true. I am thankful every day for the foundation that I was given, for all of my wonderful teachers and for the encouragement to follow my passion. I am able to share this passion because of the selflessness and love given to me from others. I hope to inspire my students in the same ways my past educators inspired me. It is an honor and privilege to be named Teacher of the Year for 2018-19."
Kellie Kirkpatrick, Lower School Academic Dean, added, "We are proud to have Mrs. McCabe, a TBS alumna, representing our school as Teacher of the Year. She is a life-long learner who encourages curiosity in her students and fosters a love for learning. Always eager to help her students achieve their best, Mrs. McCabe recognizes that all students are unique learners and finds ways to help her students reach their potential. She instills confidence by creating a classroom community built on responsibility for self and respect for others. Mrs. McCabe truly reflects the values and qualities of our TBS community."
